SMiC is a tool for system administration.
SMiC assumes a special node that is the linchpin of the monitoring and surveillance.
This SMiC node checks the availability of all SMiC client nodes.
It takes care for a stable system by monitoring among other things:
- Batch jobs
- Processes
- Disk occupancy
- Excessive CPU use
- MWAIT status
- Pending Processes in FTP
- Network port settings
All of the above monitor and monitor components work independently of the SMiC node.
On the SMiC node a webinterface can be installed.
Then it is possible to manage most settings using this Web interface.
